A ladies’ wallet is normally designed with a fold-over snap for giving them a lot of space for storing whatever they need, and unlike men’s wallets, are quite colorful. The late 1600 saw the introduction of wallets, almost coinciding with the introduction of paper currency, which was introduced in 1690 by Massachusetts. Before this period, people used to carry a simple purse for carrying the metal coins in use. The wallets in those times were made of horse and cow leather, and just had a small pouch for people to place their ID cards and currency.
In today’s wallets, there are various slots for fitting a lot of cards. These kinds of wallets for women were introduced in 1950 which marked the invention of credit cards. Wallets retained this feature and remained stagnant for almost the whole of the twentieth century, with Velcro wallet in 1970 being the sole exception. The All-ett wallet was then introduced in the late twentieth century, in 1996. These wallets were almost half as bulky as the previous wallets. Then in the 21st century, there has been a huge evolution in wallets which are now available in a variety of shapes and sizes, and which focus more on style than function.
The pick-pocket people love those who carry their wallet in their pant pockets. To avoid theft, many wallet owners have chains which connect to their wallet. Some other wallet owners have a pocket inside their coat where they safely house the wallet to avoid theft. Although wallets were introduced just for carrying cash, they are nowadays used for carrying credit cards and a variety of things. With the banks offering so handy cash, carrying a lot of cash in the wallets in undesirable and unsafe. A lot of people still carry just a change purse, which is very convenient for purchasing small things here and there.
